喀山聖母像早在12年前已曾為兩派融冰。原本的喀山聖母像來自16世紀，東主教徒視為能行神蹟的聖物，在上世紀初被毀。2004年時任教宗若望保祿二世將18世紀喀山聖母像仿品送交東正教會以示友好。
