HKU Council chairman Arthur Li Kwok-cheung dismissed it as \u201cnonsense.\u201d Basic Law Committee vice-chairman Elsie Leung Oi-sie said the idea of Hong Kong independence \u201cis not possible\u201d to come true. Leung Chun-ying, Hong Kong\u2019s Chief Executive, said the fact is Hong Kong is part of China and that will not change after 2047.<\/div>\n

The city\u2019s three over-60s political heavyweights came out yesterday to quash the advocacy of Hong Kong independence in an article carried in the latest issue of the University of Hong Kong student magazine\u00a0Undergrad<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The controversial idea was floated in an article entitled \u201cOur 2047\u201d in an\u00a0Undergrad\u00a0<\/em>edition headed \u201cDeclaration of Hong Kong Youth.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
